Mesh Wire Sculptures
5th Grade
This fifth grade art lesson takes a close look at sculpture, what materials artist use and how they go about working with the Element of FORM. They will work with a partner to construct a 3D mesh wire sculpture and fill it, and/or add to, a creative waterproof material of their choice. Don't be surprised if you see these popping up around school in the Winter and Spring time.
Objectives:
- Students create art that reflects personal voice and choices.
- They evaluate how to manipulate tools safely and appropriately to reach desired outcome.

- Critique personal, and peer, art through application of art concepts and vocabulary.
- Students gain a better understanding of the Principles of Design by looking at one another’s sculptures, as well as their own.
